Homemade Acne Treatment

There are many suggestions available when it comes to homemade acne treatment. Most of them are easily made and cost very little. However, they are not all effective and some of them should be avoided.

In order for a homemade acne treatment to be effective, one or more of the following conditions must be true: It cleanses your skin of excess oil, it has anti-microbial elements, it lessons inflammation, or, it removes dirt and other impurities from your skin. Listed here are safe, homemade remedies that work.

Oatmeal Mask

Crush a cup of raw oatmeal into a fine powder. Blend with warm water and a couple drops of lavender or chamomile. Apply mask to face, wait ten minutes then wash off. This works because it contains a vacuum surface that pulls impurities out of your pores and away from skin.

Baking Soda

Another mask treatment to try is baking soda. Blend a small portion with just the right amount of water to make a paste. Apply to the face and wait ten minutes before rinsing. This works by soaking up the excess oils in the skin. In addition, it mildly exfoliates.

Aloe Vera

This homemade acne treatment is good for inflamed acne breakouts and helps tremendously with scarring. Apply small amounts where needed, leave on. Medical evidence shows that aloe vera is an effective treatment for scar tissue and it has excellent anti-inflammatory elements.

Homemade Acne Treatment to Avoid

Applying eggs to the face is commonly recommended. The theory is that eggs have amino acids that are good for your body. This is true, but only when you eat them, not rub them into your skin.

Another homemade acne treatment that is often recommended is toothpaste. The reasoning here is that toothpaste contains the antibacterial ingredient, triclosan. However, it also has other ingredients that can irritate the skin, making it look worse.
